A Simple Christmas DIY
Cold Weather Cozy Meets Elegant Entertaining
It’s time to start your DIY’s for the holidays and I am here to help! I love a good DIY, especially one that’s simple, yet elegant. I’m not the craftiest person of all time, so when I thought of this idea I was pretty proud of myself!
Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle!
I find the best DIY’s are the ones where I can reuse something I already have. For this DIY, I’ll be using four small jam jars. I love E.D Smith jams, especially Black Current, but I digress…the jars are so cute I always end up washing them and keeping them in my cupboard – for some reason I just can’t throw them away. So today, I am going to make holiday-themed candle centrepieces. They’re perfect for the holidays, and actually, they just look nice on the table all winter!
What you will need!
- 2-6 Jars. The amount of jars is dependant on your table size. They can be any size you want, I went with the 250ML jars
- Mini Pinecones.I got mine from Michael’s, however, you can just go pick some off the ground!
- Faux or real Pine tree piece.Michael’s…
- Burlap string, ribbon, or whatever matches your home décor!
- Tea light candles
- Glue – Any white glue works
- Goo Goneto remove the labels OR I used Nail Polish Remover! Works great.
- Faux Snow
Just 5 Steps!
Step One: Make lots of toast with jam to clear out your jam jars ☺ …then rinse and clean them. Soap the jars in warm water to get most of the paper off, then, with a cotton pad, put some nail polish remover on and scrub all the sticky residue off.
Step Two: Take your ribbon and wrap it around the top of your jar, tying it in a bow at the front.
Step Three: You can intertwine a few branches to your ribbon on the outside of the jar if you please. Because the branches I purchased has pinecones already glues to them, I won’t need to proceed with step four, However, If you are adding more pinecones, just follow the next step!
Step Four Glue a few pinecones on the outside of the jar where the bow of your ribbon is.
Step Five: Add faux snow to the inside of your jar. This will make a little bed in which you will place your tea light candle on top of!
Bonus TIP: Keep the lids so that when the season is over, you can place all the materials inside the jar, close it up and store it for next year ☺
Look at You! So Crafty
Done – super easy, simple and elegant. You now have a beautiful new centrepiece for the holidays extra for last minute gifts. And, for the most part, you probably have these items at home or right outside your door. This is the perfect DIY to transform an everyday item into something lavish!
