Summer Time Gym Motivation
OKAY. So, it’s summer time, and thats usually when you want to be “beach body” ready. However, isn’t the summer the time when you drink and eat the most? Especially if you are a fellow Canadian and summer is the holy grail and lasts such a small amount of time so you really have to take advantage of it.
S0, lets not make any crazy diet plans right now, because you want to enjoy yourself this summer. Instead, focus on getting as much exercise as you can to compensate for the wings and beer.
I guess side note – I’m not a fitness junkie, so if you are, you will probably hate this post LOL This is for people who struggle HARD to get to the gym and are not looking to diet, just needs some more exercise in their life.
You can’t become a fitness junkie/exercise guru overnight
I think this is pretty key. If you never go to the gym, and overnight make this crazy plan that you will go everyday, start a diet plan, etc. You are just setting yourself up for failure. Baby steps. Start with a few times a week, and even if you just show up to the gym, get on the treadmill for 20 minutes and do a few ab work outs, thats ok. The important thing is that you got yourself there. It’s really the hardest part about getting into a gym routine. Once that routine becomes easy, you will find your ability to stay longer and push yourself just come more naturally.
Write out your goals
A month or so ago, I downloaded Julie Solomon’s Goal Setting Worksheet. It has been a game changer for me. I set 3 different goals for myself (some to achieve by the end of the year and some the end of summer) and I carry these goals with me in my laptop bag. I try to review these goals daily, and also my steps to achieve them, which helps me stay on top of them. This helps for both working out and life. Whenever things are written out, it makes it more official!

Stop doubting yourself!!
It’s so easy to doubt your abilities and bully yourself into not working out/exercising. This is usually why there are people who don’t at all. Some just think they will never look good or never feel good. Honestly, exercise is all about feeling good! You WILL feel better, you will sleep better, feel more energized, and feel overall balanced with exercise in your life. Starting is the hardest part, but just tell yourself you CAN and you WILL! Get off the couch and start with a power walk for 30 minutes. slowly add more and grow your routine at a comfortable pace.
